The Mt Thorley Industrial Estate is only 12km from the town of Singleton providing great access to the important mining and power industries of the Upper Hunter. Mt Thorley is a well established industrial estate and is home to some of the biggest suppliers to the mining sector.

Regional Relocation Grants

The Regional Relocation Grants Act provides for payments to approved applicants who relocate from metropolitan areas to regional areas for the purpose of employment, self-employment or purchasing a home. There are two grants available:

  • Regional Relocation Home Buyers Grant
  • Skilled Regional Relocation Incentive

Business Support and Training

Businesses and industry based within the Singleton LGA are privy to an exceptional support base and resource library. From toolkits and training opportunities to marketing material and networking abilities, Singleton provides all businesses with the opportunity to thrive.

Singleton Council has an accessible Economic Development team dedicated to assisting your business and who work to provide opportunities for business development. Services include providing training courses that will expand on customer service skills, merchandising and marketing, regular communications via newsletters and the business website and funding and grants assistance.

In addition to this, several business forums and lunches are held every year to provide updates and feedback on key economic topics as well as offering networking opportunities. Singleton Business Leaders Lunches are held on the third Thursday of February, June and October each year.

Chamber of Commerce

The Singleton Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc is an independent representative organisation for the Singleton business community. The chamber provides a comprehensive range of services including lobbying, advocacy, networking and advice for members.

It is able to provide additional support and services in workplace relations and business advice through the Chamber Alliance Program with the NSW Chamber and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Singleton Town Centre Upgrade

In July 2013, Council adopted a master plan for the revitalisation of the Singleton town centre. The master plan paints a "big picture" of how Council plans to make the town centre a more attractive and functional place. Above all, a place which is much more people-friendly than it is now.

Innovation is the key to surviving and thriving in today’s business world. Council is committed to supporting you to overcome these challenges through access to a great variety of contacts, networking and learning opportunities.

Partnering with industry specialists, Council offers an annual program of business support and training activities with innovation at the core. Singleton Business Leaders Lunches are held on the third Thursday of February, June and October each year.

The Upper Hunter Economic Diversification Project was commissioned by the NSW Government and six Councils in the Upper Hunter region. The focus of the project was to examine the future of the region and the emerging business and employment opportunities over the next 20 -25 years.

The Hunter Valley Destination Management Plan has been developed through a partnership between Singleton Council, Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association and Cessnock City Council.

The Destination Management Plan is created to set the overarching strategic direction for infrastructure and product development for sustainable growth in the tourism sector over the next five years.

Our Hunter Region Economic Indicators and Upper Hunter Region Economic Indicators capture the nation’s economic trends and the Hunter region’s performance across key areas including: labour force, demographics, housing, consumer confidence and business performance. These insights provide clarity for smart and innovative decision-making in challenging times.

2017 Local Women of the Year Honour Roll

A BIG Congratulations goes to Singleton Business Chamber’s President – Ruth Rogers, who as part of the 2017 NSW Women of the Year Awards received a place on the 2017 Local Women of the Year Honour Roll. These local women are recognised for their outstanding contribution to their local community as businesswomen, role models, volunteers, leaders and mentors. Ruth received her award, presented by Michael Johnsen MP, National Member for Upper Hunter, at the Singleton Business Chamber Outstanding Business Awards night.

What is the Retail Collective?

The Retail Collective is a small, dedicated group of local business owners that is focused on harnessing the opportunities created by the Town Centre Revitalisation and are committed to the long-term success of John Street.The Retail Collective will work with Council on targeted projects and initiatives that create a vibrant and interesting Town Centre.

Who can join?

We’re looking for people who:

  • have innovative ideas on how to support our Town Centre
  • committed to working with Council for the long term sustainability and success of our Town Centre
  • have what it takes to encourage your fellow business owners to get involved

Your commitment

Members of the Collective will be required to commit to a meeting (at a time decided by the group) and be hands-on when it comes to delivering projects and events.
